About Richard
Founder, CEO, Design Nerd, Road Warrior
I’m passionate about creating remarkable consumer products that will change the lives of the people that use them.
Never happy with the status quo, I’m fascinated by game-changing technology and design, and the environments that foster them. The very best part of being an entrepreneur, though, is working with my team of unconventional and brilliant people who inspire me each and every day.
Since graduating in 2000, I’ve worked in a range of creative businesses, from start-ups to global organisations, before founding MOO in May 2004. Prior to this, I was a senior strategist at Imagination, the world’s largest independent design company, where I was responsible for innovation and strategy for some of the world’s leading brands. Other past companies include sorted.com and the BBC.
In 2008 I was featured in the Times Newspaper’s ’40 Under 40′ list, a compilation of “the trendspotters and entrepreneurs who stand to reap the biggest rewards over the next digital decade”, along with the Telegraph Newspaper’s ’100 Most Influential People in Technology’, and amongst the 1,000 ‘Most Powerful People in British Business’. In 2009 the Guardian Newspaper placed me at number 85 in their list of the most powerful people in media as part of the ‘MediaGuardian 100′, and in the top 10 most influential people in digital media. In 2010 I was listed amongst the Wired 100 and became an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the year. I occasionally speak at business and technology events and have had my thoughts on design and business published in books, magazines and the web.
About MOO
MOO is an award-winning online print business
We are passionate about great design and the difference it can make to our customers and the world. Founded in 2004, MOO aims to disrupt the $100 billion global print industry by combining the values of professional design with the accessibility and reach of the web: making great design available to all.
By applying Web 2.0 principles to a 500 year-old market, MOO has leveraged modern design, technical innovation and social media to achieve rapid annual growth and a global reach since launch. The company has won 3 Webby awards (the web’s Oscars), has been profiled in the Financial Times, and was ranked in the top 10 UK start-up companies by the Guardian Newspaper. MOO currently employs 60 full-time staff and has offices in London, UK and Rhode Island, USA.
